AUSTIN — The chilly weather on Saturday didn't stop Longhorn lovers from celebrating an Austin icon's 102nd birthday.
"Bevo's Birthday" celebrates when Bevo became the official mascot for the University of Texas at Austin in 1916.
This was the second year for the event, which took place in the parking lot behind The University Co-op and featured cupcakes, cookie decorating, games and more.
Hannah Lu, from Texas Traditions, said Bevo represents Longhorn pride, the spirit of the university and the student body as a whole, which is why they wanted to celebrate the mascot and all he does for the Austin community.
