EL CAJON (CNS) - Authorities Sunday identified an 18-year-old man stabbed to death in a late-night knife fight Friday in an apartment complex parking lot.
The victim was Diego Castillo of San Diego, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office. He died at 11:37 p.m. in the 1000 block of Decker Street near where he was stabbed at 1050 E. Lexington Ave. a half-hour earlier.
El Cajon Police responded about 11 p.m. to a 911 call about a fight between a group of men in the parking lot near Courtyard Villas Apartments and found Castillo with life-threatening injuries from a single stab wound.
Officers began emergency life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. They were unable to revive Castillo, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police took a suspect, 39-year-old Able Torres, into custody.
El Cajon Police Department Sgt. W. Miller said homicide detectives were able to locate the knife used in the stabbing.
Torres was booked into San Diego Central Jail. He is being held without bail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

EL CAJON (CNS) - A murder suspect was in custody Saturday following the fatal stabbing of a man in a knife fight Friday night in an East Lexington Avenue apartment complex.
The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Abel Torres.
The El Cajon Police Department began receiving 911 calls about 11 p.m. Friday about a fight between a group of men in the parking lot near Courtyard Villas Apartments at 1050 E. Lexington Ave.
Responding to reports of a stabbing, police found a victim with life-threatening injuries from a single stab wound, said El Cajon Police Department Sgt. W. Miller.
Officers began emergency life-saving measures until paramedics arrived, said Miller.
Emergency medical personnel were unable to revive the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers on scene were informed by witnesses the suspect had entered a nearby apartment," Miller said."Officers were unable to locate the suspect who was later taken into custody."
During the investigation, Miller said homicide detectives were able to locate the knife used in the stabbing.
Torres was booked into San Diego Central Jail. He is being held without bail on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification by the Medical Examiner's Office.
