SAN DIEGO — Several recent Broadway hits are making San Diego stops on their 2024-25 tours.
Broadway San Diego's 47th season at the San Diego Civic Theatre is filled with Tony Award winners and new musical sensations.
“Each year, we have the great privilege of presenting the best in national touring Broadway shows in San Diego and this year is no exception,” said Vanessa Ybarra Davis, Vice President of Broadway San Diego. “With much of our season currently playing on Broadway or new shows just beginning their national tours, the distance between Broadway and San Diego is now closer than ever.”
The musicals are:

- Back to the Future: The Musical
- Some Like it Hot
- Wicked
- A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical
- Moulin Rouge! The Musical
- Shucked

Kimberly Akimbo
The 2023 Tony Award Winner for Best Musical will visit San Diego Oct. 8-13.
The "new musical about growing up and growing old" follows Kimberly, about to turn 16, as she moves with her family to suburban New Jersey and navigates, family dysfunction, a rare genetic condition, her first crush and possible felony charges, Broadway San Diego describes.
Back to the Future: The Musical
The Broadway version of the classic movie will stop by San Diego Jan. 14-19, 2025.
This will be part of the show's first North American Tour, following its Broadway debut in August 2023 and before that, a run on London's West End. The award-winning musical was adapted for the stage by the film's creators and includes a few hit songs from the movie, including "The Power of Love" and "Johnny B. Goode."
Some Like It Hot
The dance-heavy musical Some Like It Hot will tap into San Diego Jan. 28-Feb. 2, 2025. The musical won more theater awards than any other show this season, including a Grammy for Best musical Theater Album and Tony's for Best Choreography and Best Costumes.
San Diego native Casey Nicholaw directed and choreographed this hit, which debuted on Broadway in 2022.
Wicked
This beloved Broadway staple will return to San Diego Feb. 5-March 2, 2025.
A look at the witches inside the Land of Oz before Dorothy arrives, with an electrifying soundtrack, the musical is sure to dazzle audiences in its next local visit.
A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical
Set to songs that defined Neil Diamond's career, A Beautiful Noise will perform at the Civic Theatre May 27-June 1, 2025. The jukebox musical was created in collaboration with Diamond and presents an inspiring, energetic musical memoir, telling the untold story of how Diamond became a star.
Moulin Rouge! The Musical
The stage version of Baz Luhrmann's film will bring a world of splendor and romance to San Diego June 24-July 6, 2025. Featuring a mash-up of pop hits, the jukebox musical has won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
Shucked
This corny musical comedy will bring laughs and fun to the Civic Theatre Aug. 12-17, 2025.
The new musical ended its Broadway run in January, launching its tour of more than 30 cities this year. Shucked is directed by San Diego's own Jack O'Brien.
San Diego's 2023-24 Broadway season continues
A few shows are still left on San Diego's 2023-24 Broadway season.
MJ is playing through March 10, followed by:
- Disney's Aladdin April 3-7
- Mrs. Doubtfire June 4-9
- Peter Pan July 30-Aug. 4
