Ex-wife of Texas murder victim relieved at suspect's arrest in San Diego

The ex-wife of a man murdered in Texas is expressing relief, after learning that his accused killer was arrested here in San Diego.

SAN DIEGO (CBS8) - The ex-wife of a man murdered in Texas is expressing relief, after learning that his accused killer was arrested here in San Diego.

San Diego Police arrested Adam Gouy, 26, and Amber Herdman, 30, on Tuesday night after officers spotted their vehicle in a Costco parking lot on 8001 Othello Street in Kearny Mesa.

There were red flags that prompted officers to take a closer look, such as the mannequin in the front seat, the Texas license plate and the van itself, which was sitting in a closed Costco parking lot.

The van belongs to Gouy, a suspect in a Houston area murder, which happened July 15 in a Burger King parking lot. Forty-four-year-old Sam Delaschott was in his SUV and was the victim of a surprise attack that ended with him shot in the head.

Delaschott's ex-wife Celia spoke to News8 after learning about Gouy's arrest, saying she's "very relieved but it's not over."

"So it's still the questions of why. You know, why did you have to shoot him?" she said. "Even though it's great because E get the closure it also is reality that he is gone."

Authorities in Houston had been looking for Gouy since July when Delaschott was shot and killed.

It's unclear what Herdman's connection to the murder is, but she may be a suspect as well. This investigation could span several states because online Guoy lists himself as a New York City resident.

The two suspects are set to be arraigned in a San Diego courtroom on drug charges later in the week. It's unclear when Guoy will be returned to Texas to face additional charges.
