EL CAJON (CBS 8/CNS) - A 42-year-old El Cajon man was arrested on suspicion of murder Saturday morning in connection with the Friday night shooting death of a 34-year-old man in unincorporated El Cajon near the Bostonia neighborhood, according to sheriff's homicide detectives.

Vincent Frank Pedersen was arrested at his home without incident in the 700 block of Oro Street, about six blocks away from the shooting scene, and was expected to be booked into jail on suspicion of one count of murder, Lt. Kenn Nelson said.

Deputies with the Sheriff's Lakeside Substation received a call to investigate a possible assault with a deadly weapon at 10 p.m. Friday at a residence in the 1300 block of Oro Street. Arriving deputies found the victim lying in a driveway of the residence with trauma to his torso.

Deputies immediately began first aid and called for paramedics, who treated the man at the scene before taking him to a hospital, Nelson said. The victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving, he said.

Detectives from the Sheriff's Homicide Detail along with detectives from the Sheriff's Santee Station and Lakeside Substation responded and took over the investigation.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, as well as the positive identification of the victim, Nelson said.

Nelson asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the homicide detail at (858) 974-2321, or for after-hours, (858) 565-5200. Anonymous tips can also be made by calling Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
