OCEANSIDE (CBS 8) - A fatal accident on Interstate 5 in the North County forced the closure of several lanes Sunday night.
CHP says a pedestrian was hit several times near the Aliso Creek Rest Area in Oceanside around 11:19 p.m.
As many as five cars were involved in a chain-reaction crash that followed.
It's not clear which driver is responsible for the initial impact.
The victim's name has not been released.
Traffic was backed up several hours while authorities gathered evidence.
The investigation is ongoing.
