SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A good Samaritan rushed to the aid of a San Diego police officer who was assaulted by a man in Old Town Wednesday afternoon.
The officer says she was trying to arrest a man for trespassing on the railroad tracks near Congress and Taylor Streets when he punched her in the head and ran off. The officer was wearing a helmet and was not badly injured.
A bystander who witnessed the incident went after the man and tackled him. The man sat on the suspect until other officers arrived and took him into custody.
