District trustees implied that the future of the high school's charter could be determined by the board, depending on the school's response to questions about how the school handled four cases of sexual abuse over the last two years.
On Thursday night district trustees held a special meeting and discussed their dissatisfaction with the way the school handled the reporting of the abuse cases.
A private investigator was hired to discover many inconsistencies in the school's handling of the cases.
More than 100 parents, teachers and students attended the meeting in El Cajon to support Helix High School.
Helix High School will be required to respond to a letter from the trustees. The school has an agreement with the Grossmont district to have its own governing board.
