SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An auto-theft suspect who refused to yield for a traffic stop in Escondido led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase through three counties before pulling over and getting arrested just shy of the Nevada state line.
The high-speed pursuit began in the area of North Mission Road in northern San Diego County about 1:20 p.m., CHP public-affairs Officer Robert Catano said.
The fleeing man led officers over surface streets and north and south on Interstate 15 before passing into Riverside County.
The suspect, who was driving a stolen black BMW 328, continued north on the freeway, making a straight shot into San Bernardino County.
Just before 4:30 p.m., the man finally pulled over to the right-hand side of the interstate north of State Route 127 in the Mojave Desert and was arrested without further incident. His name was not immediately available.
The pursuit resulted in no reported collisions.
