CHULA VISTA (CNS) - An investigation was underway Wednesday into a gang- related shooting in Chula Vista that left one man dead and a second wounded.
Patrol officers who were close enough to hear the gunshots found the two men suffering from bullet wounds in the vicinity of Kearney Street and Church Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Chula Vista police.
Witnesses told investigators that two or three men -- believed to be in their 20s and dressed in hooded sweatshirts and denim jeans -- opened fire on the victims, then ran off, Lt. Fritz Reber said.
Both victims were taken to a hospital, where one was pronounced dead at 11:12 p.m. His name was not immediately released.
Police said the other victim's injuries were not considered life- threatening.
