Flames shoot out of a building that was the former home of InCahoots Dance Hall & Saloon in Mission Valley. The popular nightclub closed in 2018.

SAN DIEGO — A large fire broke out early Saturday morning at the building that once housed the popular InCahoots Dance Hall & Saloon in Mission Valley.

The fire was reported just after 1:30 a.m. at the site of the former country bar and nightclub on Mission Center Road near Hazard Center Drive.

It drew a second-alarm response from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, with 110 personnel dispatched to the scene.

Video from the scene shows towering flames and a thick column of black smoke pouring out of the roof.

It is not known if anyone was inside the building at the time, or how the fire started.

InCahoots closed in December 2018 after 26 years in business when the building and surrounding property were sold, and the bar was not offered a new lease.

The building has remained largely untouched since then, with the original signage still visible.

Last November, CBS 8 visited the building and saw the doors had been boarded up, windows had been shattered, and the walls were tagged with graffiti.

Public records show Bridge California LLC, which says it is a furniture company, owns the Mission Valley property and bought it for $3.7 million. We made several calls to company representatives but did not get an answer.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
