SAN DIEGO — Two people were killed in a crash following a pursuit involving United States Border Patrol agents in Otay Mesa.
The rollover crash happened Tuesday at around 2:20 p.m. on State Route 905 near Brittania Blvd in Otay Mesa. The two people killed in the crash were suspects in the pursuit involving the border patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol told CBS 8.
An additional person was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries, according to CHP.
Chopper 8 flew above the scene as traffic halted to a stop. Law enforcement shut down SR-905 for hours as they investigated the crash.
Law enforcement diverted drivers off of westbound SR-905 during the investigation.
The Customs and Border Patrol Office of Public Affairs said the CHP and CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility are investigating the pursuit and deadly crash.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General was also notified.
