$20 wages for most California fast food workers. Here are cities and counties paying more than minimum wage

Here's a list of cities and counties where the minimum wage is above $16. Is your area one of them?

CALIFORNIA, USA — Most California fast food workers are making $20 per hour as of April 1, but employees in other industries are still making the state's minimum wage.

The minimum wage in California is $16 per hour for all employers, as of Jan. 1, 2024., according to the California Department of Industrial Relations. The previous minimum wage in 2023 was $15.50 per hour.

While some cities and counties are sticking to $16, others have their own minimum wages that are more than $16.
