3 U.S. Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton killed in Los Angeles crash

Three of the four victims killed in a single-car crash in Los Angeles over the weekend have been identified as United States Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton.

CAMP PENDLETON NORTH, Calif — Three victims killed in a single-car crash in Los Angeles over the weekend have been identified as United States Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton.

The fiery crash happened on Saturday on Southbound Interstate 5 near Downey. Camp Pendleton officials confirmed two of the Marines killed in the crash were assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

One of the three Marines killed in the crash was assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, I Marine Expeditionary Force. 

"The accident is currently under investigation and the names of the deceased will not be released until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified," 1st Lt. Sean Waterman told CBS 8.

The fourth victim, who also was pronounced dead at the scene, has not yet been identified.
