SAN DIEGO — A 64-year-old man is dead after suffering multiple stab wounds to the chest and head at a condominium complex in the Core Columbia neighborhood on Saturday.
San Diego Police initially received a call around 11:18 p.m. regarding a man and woman arguing inside a condo on the 1100 block of Pacific Highway at the Grand South.
About 10 minutes later, police said they received another call that reported a stabbing in the parking garage of the condo complex. Officers from Central Division as well as San Diego Fire-Rescue paramedics were dispatched and arrived within minutes.
When they arrived on the scene, paramedics found a 64-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to the head and chest. Paramedics also found a 27-year-old security guard who had sustained a stab wound to the arm and a 62-year-old woman who was suffering from contusions to the head.
Medics attempted life-saving measures on the first victim, but the man did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The woman and security guard were taken to a local hospital where they received treatment for non-critical injuries.
While an investigation is already underway, San Diego Police Homicide detectives were able to learn that the deceased man and woman were married and involved in a domestic dispute that prompted neighbors to call police initially.
Police said that the suspect was known to the victim and the woman. San Diego Police said an argument erupted between two men and the woman over the relationship the suspect had with the victim's wife.
During the course of the argument, the victim went to confront the suspect while the woman went and flagged down the security guard. While in the parking garage, a fight broke out between the two men and the security guard tried to intervene.
During the fight, police said the suspect stabbed the victim several times and the security guard in the arm at least once then fled in a vehicle.
The following Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m., a citizen called San Diego Police Communications after spotting a partially parked vehicle on the sidewalk near Dairy Mart Road and Vista Lane in San Ysidro with an apparent bullet hole in the rear window.
Police responded and found a man dead inside the vehicle with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. SDPD confirmed the man was the suspect in the homicide the night prior.
Police said there are no other outstanding suspects.
Detectives are still investigating and collecting evidence as well as attempting to contact witnesses.
The victim in this case has been identified, but the name is being withheld pending family notification. The deceased 58-year-old suspect in this case has also been identified but the name is being withheld pending family notification.
