SAN DIEGO — CAL FIRE in San Diego is fighting a vegetation fire on Thursday in Jamul near the 13000 block of Highway 94 across from Vista Sage Lane.
Firefighters are on the scene with about 39 acres burned and 5% of the blaze contained. CAL FIRE said that the fire was spreading at a critical rate, but the forward spread has been stopped.
An evacuation order was issued and a temporary evacuation point was established at Steele Canyon High School at 12440 Campo Rd. Spring Valley, CA 91978.
The evacuation order was lifted shortly after 4:30 p.m. by the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Fire crews will continue to monitor and mop up the area.
SR94 is closed for a few more hours, and the Sheriff's Department said it will be reopened to one lane later in the night.
The San Diego Sheriff's Department advises that drivers be mindful of emergency equipment on the road.
