ANAHEIM, Calif. — A strong earthquake centered near Malibu gave a jarring shake that disrupted visitors at the Happiest Place on Earth.

The magnitude of 4.6 earthquake that struck at 1:47 p.m. on Friday, sent tremors as far as south as Anaheim, momentarily halting rides at the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort.

Video shared with CBS 8 by Nick with EJay’s Adventures showed Disneyland guests reacting to the earthquake moments after the shaking ended.

Nick told CBS 8 that he didn’t feel any shaking but rides were paused for about 30 minutes.  He said there wasn’t any panic, and guests remained calm in the moments following the earthquake.

Nick said Disneyland staff and cast members showed professionalism as employees completed emergency procedures.

As of 3:45 p.m., most of the rides at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park were operating.

CBS 8 reached out to the Disneyland Resort for details but did not receive a response.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake, which struck at 1:47 p.m., was centered about 7.7 miles southwest of Westlake Village and 7.9 miles west-northwest of Malibu. The quake was felt over a wide area.

There were no initial reports of significant damage or injuries.

Los Angeles County Fire Department and the L.A. County Sheriff's Department's Malibu officials quickly indicated there were no immediate reports of injuries or property damage. The Los Angeles City Fire Department went into "earthquake mode," in which crews fan out to survey the entire city, but initial indications were no reports of damage.

The temblor was felt as a sharp jolt across a wide swath of the Southland, from Malibu to the west side and beyond, as well as in Orange County.

Some residents reported that it was felt for between five and eight seconds.

According to the USGS, the quake occurred at a depth of about eight miles.
