SAN DIEGO — The San Diego City Council on Monday voted 6-3 to approve a five-year lease extension for the Campland on the Bay campground, allowing it to expand to a large area of the recently closed De Anza Cove mobile home park.
Some critics of the proposal wanted to see the site used for wetland restoration, but others said they are tired of waiting for the site to be redeveloped.
Campland has agreed to spend $8 million in improvements, including getting rid of crumbling mobile homes in exchange for rent credits from the city.
