SAN DIEGO — Chick-fil-A is coming to Carlsbad.
Next Thursday, June 20, one of Carlsbad's own will open the chain's first location in the city, joining 19 other Chick-fil-A's in the San Diego region, a news release said.
The location's Owner-Operator is Tyler Reese, a graduate of a local Carlsbad high school and Chick-fil-A employee for the San Diego region since 2009. Reese worked every position at Chick-fil-A San Marcos before becoming Director of Operations. His role grew to oversee staffing, operations and finance for both the San Marcos and the Escondido locations in 2015.
“My positions at Chick-fil-A Escondido and Chick-fil-A San Marcos helped me realize how impactful serving our communities as a local Owner-Operator can be,” Reese said in the release. “The mentorship I experienced from my local Owner-Operator, Jordan Ciervo, helped guide me toward my next steps in life, and I hope to show that same level of care in providing leadership opportunities and developing my team.”
Reese went on to participate in Chick-fil-A's Leadership Development Program, helping eight local Owner-Operators to open restaurants. His dream was to return with his family to Southern California, where he hopes to give back to the community through partnerships with local youth sports and leadership organizations.
He will oversee the restaurant's 100 full- and part-time employees while creating relationships with local organizations and businesses, according to the release.
"Coming back to open a restaurant in Carlsbad, not far from where I started my first job, is so special and I cannot wait to serve the area with our delicious food and signature hospitality," Reese said.
In honor of the restaurant's opening, Chick-fil-A donated $25,000 to Feeding America to help support Feeding San Diego. Reese also plans to give the restaurant's extra food to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits, through Chick-fil-A's Shared Table program.
Chick-fil-A Carlsbad West will be open for dine-in, carry out, catering pickup and delivery 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 5848 Avenida Encinas, Carlsbad.
