RAMONA, Calif. — The community showed its support Friday for an 11-year-old boy whose lemonade stand was recently stolen.
Liam had been selling lemonade for more than a year in Ramona.
“He does all the footwork, I mean he takes the table, the chair like everything even if it's heavy like he does all of it,” Liam's mom Kery Rader said.
Liam was raising money to buy a dirt bike through the money got from selling cups of lemonade. It's a hobby that has its bonus.
“Meet new people,” Liam said.
One day as Liam was setting up, he walked away to get some supplies. During those moments, a truck loaded up his lemonade stand and took off. A short time later, Liam returned only to see his setup gone.
“looks a little more intentional and that's unfortunate you know I think Liam definitely learned a hard lesson that day as far as leaving his stuff unattended,” Rader said.
When the community learned about the situation, they wanted to do something to help.
“The community just like started pouring in with like hey you know can we replace the table, the chairs can we donate to his stand or whatever cause you know, he’s been trying to save for a dirt bike,” Rader said.
A major lemonade stand was set up Friday where Liam handed out free cups of lemonade to the community. Although, many people donated some cash anyway, it's money Liam will donate to an animal sanctuary.
“I love animals and I don’t think any animal like that deserves to like I feel like every animal deserves a chance,” Liam said.
Liam was gifted a new lemonade stand along with a red dirt bike.
