San Diego couple searches for good Samaritans who saved them from a near-deadly crash

Uriel Lopez was driving towards oncoming traffic, before going down a curve, flipping over, and landing on the driver’s side in an embankment.

SAN DIEGO — It was a foggy Saturday night when Uriel Lopez and his girlfriend Dominique Hernandez were headed to the movies in Poway.

Suddenly, he says somehow his truck fishtailed near Highway 67 and Poway Road.

"My blood pressure was through the roof and my adrenaline was skyrocketing," said Lopez.

Lopez was driving toward oncoming traffic, before the truck flipped over, and landed on its side in an embankment.

"I was plowing through trees and over rocks until the truck came to stop in a ditch where it flipped over on its roof. I guess that curve is notorious for people ending up in that ditch," said Lopez.

"Oncoming traffic was coming at me, so that was scary in itself," said Hernandez.

Lopez helped his girlfriend get out of the truck through the window. Hernandez has some minor back pains now, but despite that; they both got out of the wreck unscathed.

"I'm really surprised nothing happened because we went through trees and boulders," said Lopez.

And it's all thanks to some good Samaritans who pulled over to help.

Wednesday, Lopez says he connected with a man on Facebook who helped him get to safety after the crash.

"Tim Moyer. I found out his name. He gave me his hand and helped me get out of the ditch as well," said Lopez.

They are also hoping to find a kind couple who helped them as well.

"She was really nice to be there and said, 'you're going to be okay' and it was nice having her there for a second and just her helping," said Hernandez.

They say they are grateful for this second chance at life and want the couple to read this message.

"A big thank you for letting me know I would be okay because I didn’t think I would be," said Hernandez.

"Honestly, just thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was a dangerous situation. I'm hoping to find them to say thank you and maybe have dinner with them," said Lopez.

Lopez also says he plans to buy the same exact truck, a 2014 Ford-F350, since he says he believes that is what saved his and his girlfriend's life.
