CAMPO, Calif. — A brush fire was stopped after burning 32 acres near Campo in East County on Saturday morning, Cal Fire San Diego officials said.
The fire began at about 3 a.m. Saturday near Interstate 8 and Crestwood Road. Firefighters remained on the scene at about 9 a.m. for mop-up and containment operations.
The fire burned very close to Golden Acorn Casino, but there were no evacuations. The casino is surrounded by a large parking lot so the structure was never in any danger, Cal Fire said.
All roads are open but drivers were urged to use caution in the area.
