SAN DIEGO — Families of all ages made it out to Belmont Park's 11th annual Father's Day Car Show. Classic cars lined up outside the amusement and proud car owners sat outside their ride ready and eager to answer questions.
Brian and his son Jayden Orris were among those proud owners. For them, working on their car is a time they get to bond.
"We do the whole car show thing, all of our team members we're do-it-yourself-ers. Last January we started a car club together now we have 20-25 members," said Orris.
Jaiden is following in the footsteps of his dad, and just recently got his first job at a tire shop, an accomplishment that makes his dad proud.
"Working side by side with him, I take my degree in automotive and pass that knowledge to the younger generation," said Orris.
Brian spoke with CBS 8 about some of the favorite parts of his ocean-themed car that he and his son worked on together.
"My son actually did the pinstriping for me, I try and tie in a lot of stuff that we do together at the house and represent it as best as possible with the Ocean theme," said Orris.
Brian and Jayden weren't the only father and son duo out today. The Jorgensen family has been coming to this car show for years now, they all share a love for cars.
"We always have a little oddball car, we have a 6-wheel drive truck, always something different, something you don't see all the time," said Jorgensen.
Mike's dad moved to San Diego to be closer to family and while they attend car shows all over San Diego, they said this one was extra special.
"We're pretty lucky because we get to see each other so often, and you can't take that for granted, you can't replace that and we're really grateful," Jorgensen said.
