The original story appears below.

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg will hold a rally in South County San Diego on Monday night, his campaign announced Thursday. The event – described as a town hall - will be held at San Ysidro High School the night before the Presidential Primary Election in California and 13 other states – also known as Super Tuesday.

Buttigieg’s campaign announced the San Diego stop as part of a “get-out-the-vote" effort by Pete for America along with a California-specific digital ad campaign and 350 events hoping to reach voters across the state.

"We know Pete’s message is resonating in California –– voters are tired of the politics of division and dysfunction. And Pete is the candidate offering bold solutions to our country’s greatest challenges in a way that actually unites the country,” said Cecilia Cabello, the Pete for America’s California state director.

The announcement comes a week after the board of the San Diego Union-Tribune endorsed Buttigieg for president. The board of San Diego's paper-of-record was split between Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Buttigieg, but ultimately endorsed the former mayor of South Bend, Ind., citing his military experience and centrist policies as well-suited to beat President Donald Trump in November.

Over the past two weeks, Buttigieg has made five trips to Super Tuesday states including Colorado, Utah, Virginia, and California – with events in Sacramento, Los Angeles, and Turlock. Monday’s San Diego stop will mark Buttigieg’s return to California for a final push ahead of the primary vote the next day.

According to the campaign, doors for the San Ysidro event will open at 6 p.m. with the rally slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. The school is located at 5353 Airway Rd.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story indicated that the rally would be in Chula Vista, when an update was given on Saturday, Feb. 29 it indicated the rally will be held in San Ysidro.
