Fire near U.S.-Mexico border burns 61 acres, 60% contained

The fire was first reported just after 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Marron Valley, about five miles south of Barrett Junction.

A fast-moving brush fire near the U.S.-Mexico border was threatening structures Sunday, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was first reported just after 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Marron Valley, about five miles south of Barrett Junction.

Cal Fire said the fire burned 90 acres and containment was at 5% as of 6 p.m. Sunday. By midday Monday, the fire was 61 acres and 60% contained, according to Cal Fire. 

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
