SAN DIEGO — Four people, including two San Diego Police officers, were hospitalized Saturday after a car crashed into a police vehicle with its lights and siren on when responding to a call.

The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. on the intersection of Barnett Avenue and Midway Drive near Liberty Station, according to San Diego Police.

The police officers were westbound on Barnett Avenue en route to a call when they stopped at the red light to make sure the intersection was clear before going through, police officials said.

Officials said "some injuries" were reported but who was injured — and the extent of the injuries — is unknown at this time.

San Diego Police's Traffic Division is investigating the crash.

A 27-year-old woman driving a 2024 Honda Accord southbound in the left turn lane on Midway allegedly moved into the intersection and collided with the police vehicle, police said. She suffered a fractured femur and her passenger suffered an orbital fracture, while the officers suffered minor cuts and abrasions.

Investigators allege the Honda driver was impaired, which was a factor in the crash. No arrests were immediately made.

Barnett Avenue between Tuscaloosa and Midway Drive was closed for several hours for the investigation.
