SAN DIEGO — An investigation is underway after a man was taken into custody in Vista after sheriff's deputies shot him as he tried to enter a church with a gun.
Around noon Sunday the San Diego Sheriff’s Department received a call about a man having a gun and threatening to harm himself at Iglesia Ni Cristo at the 1400 block of Calle Jules.
According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, once deputies and officers arrived on scene and made contact with the armed suspect, they ordered the suspect to put down the gun several times, but the man did not follow the commands from law enforcement and that’s when deputies proceeded to shoot him.
Following the shooting, paramedics placed the suspect onto a stretcher and into the ambulance. The paramedics transported him to a local hospital, but it is unclear what injuries he suffered or what condition he is currently in.
The sheriff's department has not released any further information. We don't know who the suspect is or if the family inside that building had any relation to the suspect.
