KFMB's Douglas McAllister passes away at 75

Douglas McAllister contributed numerous stories from 1978-1996 detailing the life and times of San Diego.

SAN DIEGO — KFMB said goodbye to one of our own on December 22 when Douglas McAllister passed away at the age of 75.

Douglas earned a reputation as a journalist at KFMB thanks to his unique writing and delivery that earned him several awards and accolades throughout his 25-year career in broadcast news.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Douglas earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Communication at Tulsa University. He worked as a reporter for KOTV, KTUL, and KFMB throughout his career.

In his later years, Douglas lent his knowledge and expertise to teach the next generation of journalists at Midland University in Nebraska and Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.

Douglas is survived by his wife, two children, two brothers and three grandchildren. A celebration of life event is planned for Southern California and details are pending.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people make a donation to the Tunnels to Towers organization or the American Cancer Association, both of which were significant to Douglas.

Below, are some of Douglas' segments from "News 8's On the Move"
