ESCONDIDO, Calif. (CBS 8) - Along the tranquil shore of Lake Wohlford on the cusp on an Escondido weekend, things start to heat up at the café across the street when they start serving up their famous all-you-can-eat catfish dinner.
"We start you off with four pieces of catfish and some hushpuppies and cole slaw," Phyllis Kamps of Smokey's Lake Wohlford café said.
Phyllis's family has owned the café since October 2006. Her hearty meals and reasonable prices have resonated in the hearts and wallets of locals and daytrippers alike. But when Phyllis's daughter Kaleena starts cranking up the karaoke machine, Lake Wohlford rocks!
The café has been around since 1947, but nearly closed its doors for good after the 2007 wildfire, but now Lake Wohlford has its groove back and the party's just begun.
