Sheriff's Office arrests man connected to illegal mushroom grow operation in Fallbrook, Bonsall

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — A San Diego County man is facing felony charges after deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office discovered an illegal magic mushroom grow operation.

Randal Scott Vance, 41, was arrested on Oct. 4 after deputies served a search warrant at a business located in Fallbrook and a home in Bonsall.

According to the sheriff’s office, detectives discovered an illegal operation to manufacture and distribute psilocybin mushrooms.

During the search warrant service, deputies seized two rifles, four handguns, more than 250 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, 40 pounds of psilocybin mushroom chocolate candy, ecstasy, lysergic acid diethylamide or LSD, and suspected Ketamine.

According to the sheriff’s office, the drugs have an estimated street value of more than $200,000.

Vance was arrested on felony charges of child endangerment, possessing, producing, and transporting controlled substances with intent to sell, violating health codes, and being armed while committing drug offenses.

The sheriff’s office said two children were discovered isnide the home at the time of the arrest and were turned over to their mother who shares custody.
