CARLSBAD, Calif. — City of Carlsbad and State Parks' lifeguards responded to Carlsbad State Beach Thursday morning for a water rescue/drowning and found a man's body 40 to 50 yards offshore.
The man, believed to be between 45 and 55 years old, was found nude.
"The death investigation has been turned over to Carlsbad Police Department's Homicide Unit," Jorge Moreno, a spokesman with California State Parks, told News 8.
A spokesperson for the Carlsbad Police Department told News 8 that the Medical Examiner has taken the body and will identify the man as well as determine the cause of death.
As of now, the department says there is no reason to believe the death is suspicious.
