Poway man catches mountain lion on camera on family's property

Video of a mountain lion shows the wild animal passing through a property in Poway.

POWAY, Calif. — A mountain lion was caught on video passing through a property in Poway. It’s not the first time a wild animal has roamed through Jim Bremner’s family’s property which is just a couple miles from the North County Mall.

“We’re in their domain, we’ve taken over as humans and I think the mountain lions belong here and should be free to roam as they please as long as they are not hurting other humans,” Bremner said.

Jim Bremner captured the video of the mountain lion through his camera. He said the mountain lion was spotted around 2:30 a.m.

Bremner tells CBS 8 that cameras have captured mountain lions usually making their way through the overnight hours.

“It looked like to me like a younger one because it seemed lean, it seemed a little smaller. The fur was very smooth it didn't have a lot of ticks on it like I'd seen in the past  in older ones that had ruffled fur and lots of ticks,” Bremner

Jim’s cameras have captured several animals passing by including deer, coyotes and bobcats. But he hadn't seen a mountain lion sighting in about a year.

“My hope is just to get more color photographs of these beautiful animals coming through and if anyone asks to educate them about the mountain lions,” Bremner said

Jim hopes that with his cameras set up along the property, he can continue to capture footage of wild animals making their way through.
