CHULA VISTA, Calif. — A collision between an MTS trolley and a truck lead to 17 people injured in Chula Vista Tuesday afternoon, officials confirm. MTS officials say Blue Line passengers should expect delays for the rest of Tuesday night and through Wednesday morning.

The crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. near Industrial Boulevard and L Street. Currently there is no trolley service between H Street and the Iris Avenue Transit Center.

The driver of the truck and two trolley passengers suffered major trauma, Chula Vista Fire confirmed.

MTS also stated on X, formerly known as Twitter, there will be no Blue Line service between H Street and Palm Avenue due to a disabled train blocking the tracks. MTS said to expect delays until further notice.

In a statement to CBS 8, MTS officials said the agency is investigating the situation and are providing bus shuttles to serve impacted stations between H Street and Iris.

Trolley riders in the South Bay took to social media Tuesday evening. X user Brenda Garcia said dozens of people have to figure out how to get to San Ysidro.

"Not a single MTS employee or security at H Street station after we were all asked to get off of the trolley," Garcia said. "People have to figure out how to get to San Ysidro now."
