SAN DIEGO — Southbound State Route 163 at Interstate 805 in the Kearny Mesa area was closed Friday morning following a fatal crash overnight.
The crash prompted a SigAlert and traffic was diverted off southbound SR-163 to southbound I-805 in the area of the Genesee Ave exit.
Four people died in the crash that happened around 1:30 a.m. and there were three vehicles involved, according to California Highway Patrol. Three of the deceased have been identified as males ages 25, 26 and 27, according to the CHP.
Two of the drivers were arrested on DUI-related charges.
Severe damage was seen to the back end of one vehicle and the other vehicle, a truck, was flipped over with front end damage.
The investigation is ongoing.
