Multiple people injured in Spring Valley shooting

Shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, Sheriff's received reports of shots fired in the 9000 block of Ildica Street.

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. — The San Diego Sheriff's Department is investigating after five people were injured in a shooting Saturday evening in Spring Valley, an official with the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Department said. 

Shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, the department received reports of shots fired in the 9000 block of Ildica Street. The San Diego Sheriff said that witnesses told deputies that there was a birthday party at a home and that people heard multiple gunshots coming from the backyard. 

Deputies responded from Rancho San Diego, Santee, Alpine, Lemon Grove, Lakeside, and Imperial Beach substations and found a "frantic" scene. 

The San Diego Sheriff's Department said that deputies searched the immediate area for the shooter or shooters while other deputies provided first aid to victims. A Sheriff's K9 unit and helicopter also responded to the incident. 

Heartland Fire confirmed seven people were transported to the hospital, but said the severity of the injuries at the time was unknown. 

"A 27-year-old-woman, 30-year-old-woman, 30-year-old-man, and 35-year-old-man were taken to various hospitals for minor injuries. A 26-year-old man is hospitalized in critical condition. Two teenage boys were treated for burn injuries due to fireworks," the San Diego Sheriff's Department said in a statement. 

No suspect has been apprehended or identified as of Sunday, November 19 according to the Sheriff's Department. 

The Sheriff's Department said that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public while the investigation continues.
