VISTA, Calif. — Green Oak Ranch in Vista will soon be home to the non-profit ‘Solutions for Change.’ The organization helps people experiencing homelessness.
“This is such an important day in our 25-year history,” Solutions for Change VP Community Engagement Jason Ventetuolo said.
The organization was selected to take ownership of the land for $10.5 million after a competitive vetting process. They are purchasing 110 acres out of the property's 138 total acres.
“We’re super excited to work with our local elected officials and community leaders to help build a collaborative vision for what the ranch will look like,” Ventetuolo said.
The organization will continue its 700-day program called ‘Solutions Academy,’ at Green Oak Ranch. The program provides people with a wide range of services including job preparedness, financial literacy and addiction recovery.
One of the new features the organization would like to include is a workforce development center.
“I know for sure that we want to be able to continue the beauty of the ranch but also bring some new things to it,” Ventetuolo said.
Now with Solutions for Change taking ownership, Jason tells CBS 8 that their main focus is ending family homelessness.
“We don't want to come in and change anything.. Its going to take some planning and some discussion and again working with our elected officials and community leaders to find out exactly what the vision is going to look like. What I can promise you is that we are focused on ending family homelessness,” Ventetuolo said.
Solutions for Change will take ownership in the first quarter of next year.
