One dead after stabbing in San Marcos

A woman is dead after a stabbing on the 100 block of N. Twin Oaks Valley Road Wednesday night.

SAN DIEGO — A woman is dead following a stabbing on the 100 block of N. Twin Oaks Valley Road in San Marcos on Wednesday night. 

Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene shortly before 10:30 p.m. on December 26 in response to a stabbing. When they arrived, deputies found a woman suffering from a stab wound. 

Paramedics provided medical aid on the scene, but the woman died from her injuries while en route to the hospital. The victim's identity is being withheld at this time. 

A 29-year-old, Ziyah Jay Patterson, has been arrested on a murder charge. He has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

The San Diego Sheriff is actively investigating the motivation and circumstances around this incident.
