SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The girl you're about to meet may soon be in your home in the form of a photograph. Twelve-year-old Andrea will appear in the 2015 Join the Team Calendar.
It's an annual partnership between the Chargers, San Diego County Adoptions, and Adopt 8, to raise awareness about the need for adoptive families.
Now meet Andrea, who's hoping to have a new forever family before the New Year.
Not many kids get instructed to charge at a Chargers player. It was such a special treat for Andrea who was full of excitement and anticipation about her photo shoot with Brandon Flowers for the Chargers-San Diego County Adoptions 2015 Calendar.
“She said, ‘I got to meet one of the Chargers players that was really awesome. I got to knock him down and push him,' so that was really exciting for her. She said, ‘I can't wait to go to school and tell my friends about that... that I got to meet the Chargers,' which is her home team,” said Protective Services Worker, Arleth Rubio.
This sixth grader hasn't had much to cheer about her past three years in the foster care system.
Her social worker says she has lived with seven foster families and Andrea is hoping her next move will be her last into a forever home.
“Having that family that's going to be there for her and not having to move. She's looking forward to permanency and calling a place home. My room. My home. My family,” explained Rubio.
Andrea deserves a family that can help her achieve her dreams. She says when she grows up she'd like to be dentist.
And nothing would give Andrea a brighter smile, than finding a forever home.
I hope I find a family, so I never could move,” Andrea said.
