Oregon snow trip

PORTLAND, Ore. (CBS 8) - During the last week in January, my husband and I traveled to Portland, Oregon for what was supposed to be an epic snow ski extravaganza. I figured Mt. Hood would be overflowing with snow. Quite the opposite. The mountain was seriously bare. We did three runs at Meadows and called it a day. It was after all 65 degrees at 7,000 feet! If I wanted to water ski I would have gone to El Capitan Reservoir. I quickly realized that the same stubborn ridge of high pressure that's been stealing our thunder this winter was also affecting the Pacific NW.

The weather pattern this weekend is certainly going to change that for all of us from Canada down to the desert SW and out east to the Rockies. I'm thankful for that. I'd hate to see Multnomah Falls in Oregon dry up or witness Mt. Hood's glaciers disappear.
