NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — First responders successfully rescued a man stuck inside a hole at a shopping mall in National City.
National City and Chula Vista firefighters were called at around 1:17 p.m. on Monday to help rescue a man who fell into a hole at Westfield Plaza Bonita Mall.
After a five-hour long rescue, first responders were successful in their efforts to rescue the man and transported him to a hospital.
National City Fire confirmed to CBS 8 on Tuesday that the man was evaluated at a local hospital and released.
According to the National City Fire Department, the man is a plumber who was conducting work at a construction site believed to be the former John’s Incredible Pizza.
A wall at the construction site collapsed and trapped the man in a hole.
