CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Randy’s Donuts, world-renowned purveyors of sweet treats, opened its next San Diego County location in Chula Vista Friday morning.
The iconic donut company is celebrating the grand opening of its second San Diego County shop located at 3001 Bonita Road starting on Friday morning.
To celebrate its grand opening and National Donut Day, the bakery is offering free glazed donuts starting on Friday between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. and a year of free donuts to the first 10 customers.
Randy's Donuts' expansion to Chula Vista is the second of ten planned store openings across the county.
In 2022, CBS 8 spoke to San Diego native and Randy's Donuts owner and operator Emilio Tamez about his plans to bring the legendary Los Angeles donut shop to the area.
"Randy's Donuts is so iconic! So when I heard about the opportunity, I reached out to Mark, and we've been working on this for a long time," Tamez told CBS 8 in 2023.
The first of ten locations opened in Serra Mesa's Stonecrest Plaza, located in the 3000 block of Murphy Canyon Road, centrally perched above Interstate 15.
"We're actively looking at additional locations in La Jolla, Escondido, and the South Bay as well," Tamez told CBS 8.
You may recognize the iconic company by a gigantic donut perched atop its flagship location in the Inglewood neighborhood of Los Angeles County.
The building was also featured in films like Iron Man 2, California Girls, Escape from Petropolis, and many more.
From movies to music videos, Randy's Donuts made frequent appearances on small and big screens.
