SAN DIEGO — One person is in custody after a brief security scare at Balboa Naval Medical Center. San Diego Police confirmed they were responding to a call of an active shooter around 10:45 Friday.
CBS 8 has learned that security alerted police after witnessing a person approaching an individual who ran away and a shelter-in-place order was issued.
San Diego Police have confirmed there was no active shooter, no gunfire and no victims. They added that the person who was detained was not armed.
Navy Police are clearing buildings as a precaution.
A spokesperson from the Navy said patients and hospital staff were ordered to shelter in place.
