SAN DIEGO — Community members rallied in support of Israel to honor their loved ones as the war against Hamas continues. People showed up with signs, flags, and shirts, all to send a message of unity.
“When you are that far away you feel pretty hopeless, almost there is nothing we can do, and to be able to show support, it's the least we can do,” Pro-Israel supporter, Oren Danieli said.
Being miles away, they understand what their loved ones in the Middle East are going through.
“We are just as devastated, we know how tough it is,” Danieli said.
Stand With Us San Diego along with the Jewish Federation and other groups organized the event. For those in attendance, it was consoling to see a large crowd come together and stand with Israel.
“Heartwarming, to see the support that we're getting because it's not always the case,” Pro-Israel supporter, Efrat Orkin, said.
By coming out to rally, those in attendance hope their message to support Israel comforts those who need it.
“The mission is to create awareness and to show support to our friends and family there so they don't feel like they're alone in this,” Pro-Israel supporter, Guri Stark said.
The rally also served as a way to show compassion during a difficult time for some.
“We also need a hug, we also need to comfort ourselves and this type of event help us get together as a community and hug each other,” Stark said.
