SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is back again this year. The time-honored tradition is celebrating the 53rd annual event with about 80 boats decked out in holiday lights and decorated in this year's theme.
When to Watch
The event is free for the public to view and it starts at 5:30 p.m. There will be two opportunities to watch on Sundays, December 10 and 17. The parade will follow a predetermined route around San Diego Bay.
Parade Route
The parade is expected to last about an hour and a half to two hours. The times provided are approximations:
- Shelter Island - 5:30 p.m.
- Harbor Island - 6:15 p.m.
- The Embarcadero - 6:45 p.m.
- Seaport Village - 7:15 p.m.
- The Pier at Cesar Chavez Park - 7:30 p.m.
- Ferry Landing at Coronado - 7:45 p.m.
Where to Watch
The parade starts at Shelter Island, heads to Harbor Island, then the Embarcadero, and then Seaport Village. The procession will move from Cesar Chavez Park and make their way to the turn at Coronado, giving spectators another view of the boats.
According to the port, the best locations to take in the event are Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Broadway Pier, Embarcadero Marina Parks North and South, Cesar Chavez Park and Pier and the Coronado Ferry Landing.
