Brush fire near Chollas Parkway stopped in its tracks

The agency first reported the fire as a first alarm at 12:55 p.m. The fire burned 1/2 an acre before the firefighters stopped the forward rate of speed.

SAN DIEGO — San Diego Fire-Rescue crews made quick work of a brush fire that ignited Saturday afternoon in the 5700 block of Bates Street near Chollas Parkway.

The agency first reported the fire as a first alarm at 12:55 p.m. The fire burned 1/2 an acre before the firefighters stopped the forward rate of speed.

The mop up phase began around 1:25 p.m. No evacuations were reported.
