San Diego's largest rummage sale excites shoppers with unique finds

Shoppers found jewelry, artwork, books, and vintage collectibles galore at the the San Diego Rummage Sale at Balboa Park.

SAN DIEGO — San Diego’s largest rummage sale has come to an end, but shoppers are leaving with unique finds.

Jewelry, artwork, books, and vintage collectibles galore! You never know what you’ll find at the San Diego Rummage Sale at Balboa Park.

"They found and sold for $5 a Beatles record that was $500 online for $5 and now $2.50 because it was half off!" said shopper Barbara Suazo.

"Oh my gosh, this is the best thing in entire world! I'm going crazy! I saw the sign and I knew I had to to come see this stuff," said shopper Emily Ito.

Shopper Priscilla Zimmerman could not contain her excitement when she proudly showcased her discovery.

"I found a pasta maker! So excited! I actually came looking for that and I can't believe I found it!" cheered Zimmermann.

"You’ve bought the coolest thing I've seen all day, a pasta maker! $5 folks!" smiled the cashier.

The Thursday Club, a historic women’s organization, initiated this annual rummage sale in 1927, raising millions for Balboa Park and community activities.

Each time a shopper rounds up their total cost, they ring bells, showing their support for the Thursday Club.

"It's an exciting moment! You find cool gadgets. It excites that little spark in you and you can look at it everyday," said Zimmermann.

"I got this crazy looking blanket, and its only $2," said Ito.

Even local nonprofit volunteers from “Just In Time Foster Youth” were there to support the Thursday Club.

"The Thursday Club gives us grants. We're supporting them supporting us," said Suazo.

With the success of this year's rummage sale, The Thursday Club looks forward to continuing its impactful work in the San Diego community for years to come.

"This stuff is so good! Oh my God, I love it!" said Ito.
