SAN DIEGO — A San Diego Police Officer and two others were injured during an attempted traffic stop that ended on State Route 94 around 1:00 a.m. Monday, February 19.
Video taken at the scene shows a police cruiser and a second vehicle at the bottom of an embankment on the 94 Freeway near Emerald Hills.
Two people inside the car suffered leg fractures and were taken to a hospital, police said. The officer complained of back pain but wasn't seriously hurt, according to SDPD.
A police spokesperson says the officer tried to pull over the driver for a minor traffic violation on Logan Avenue. The driver then took off and entered the 805 Freeway with the officer in pursuit, with speeds reaching nearly 100 miles per hour.
The pursuit came to an end on SR-94 near Kelton Avenue when both cars failed to handle a sharp corner, sending them down a ravine.
