SAN DIEGO — Big changes are ahead for the San Diego Pride Organization after the abrupt resignation of its executive director.
Fernando Zweifach Lopez Jr. resigned their position as San Diego Pride’s top leader on Monday, the organization confirmed.
“We extend our gratitude for Fernando's contributions during their tenure,” San Diego Pride said in a statement.
In a post to social media, Lopez said, “I'm so eternally grateful to have had the privilege of serving San Diego Pride's mission for nearly 13 years. I couldn't be more proud of all we've accomplished together!”
The circumstances regarding Lopez’s resignation are unknown.
San Diego Pride’s board of directors said to maintain continuity, the board will oversee the organization while they search “swiftly” for a new executive director.
The board of directors said they have, “Full confidence in the staff leadership, and we believe they are well-equipped to guide us through this transitional period.”
"We want to reassure our community that San Diego Pride remains fully committed to our mission of fostering pride, equality, and respect for all members of the LGBTQ+ community," the board of directors said.
