San Ysidro DMV holds ‘REAL ID Saturday’ event

No appointments were necessary, and the DMV will only be processing REAL ID applications.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — The San Ysidro DMV was open on Saturday, February 22 for a “REAL ID Saturday” event.

No appointments were necessary, and the DMV only processed REAL ID applications.

Starting October 1, 2020, anyone travelling on a flight within the US must show a valid passport or a REAL ID driver license or identification card – or they will not be admitted past security into the terminals. They will not be able to board their flight or enter other federal buildings, like courthouses or military bases.

Customers are urged to complete the online REAL ID application before their visit and bring the required documents (see below).

To apply for a REAL ID driver license or identification card, Californians must visit a DMV office and bring the following documents:

  • One proof of identity* – original or certified (examples: valid passport, birth certificate)
    • Legal name change document(s) required if name on proof of identity is different than current name
  • One proof of Social Security number (examples: Social Security card, W-2)
  • Two proofs of California residency – paper copies (examples: utility bill, bank statement)

Visit REALID.dmv.ca.gov for a complete list of acceptable documents and a link to the online application.
