CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Update:

The Chula Vista Police Department has confirmed to CBS 8 that two 15-year-old boys have been arrested and charged with attempted murder related to the shooting of a 24-year-old man at Salerno Luxury Rentals apartment complex on Wednesday in Otay Ranch.

The 24-year-old sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local area hospital.

Both juveniles were arrested and booked into a Juvenile Detention Facility and face attempted murder and weapons charges.

It is unknown if the juveniles have been charged with the murder of a second unidentified man who was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chula Vista Police Department Sgt. Anthony Molina said the suspects were identified based on investigative leads and taken into custody without incident.

Original story:

One man was killed and another man was severely wounded after a shooting at a luxury apartment complex in Chula Vista early Wednesday morning.

The Chula Vista Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at Salerno Luxury Rentals apartment complex located just east of Heritage Road and south of Olympic Parkway, just after 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday after a woman called 911 and said that her friend was shot and bleeding.

According to Chula Vista police, officers arrived at the apartment complex located on the 1300 block of Calle Verona and discovered an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound to the head outside of the apartment. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's identity is being withheld by police pending family notification.

Chula Vista police said they found a 24-year-old man inside the apartment who sustained a gunshot wound to the face. Police said the man was conscious and transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

The identity of the injured victim has not been shared by police.

“While details are limited at this time, initial indications suggest this was not a random attack,” Chula Vista Police Department Sgt. Anthony Molina said.
